Name tapes and identification patches
Different names and character counts can change spacing within the same tape size. Automatic shrinking can make the longest name less readable than the rest of the set.
Before quoting: Supply the final name list, capitalization, punctuation, tape dimensions, and permitted lettering format. Check the longest and shortest entries at actual size and define the quantity for each.

Backing, border, and shape compatibility
Hook-and-loop and sew-on are the two common backing choices for military patches. Our factory recommends standard shapes with a merrowed border for the best hook-and-loop result. For non-standard outlines, our available edge options are an embroidered border or a laser-cut / heat-cut edge; we do not recommend hook-and-loop backing for these shapes because the patch may distort and prevent the backing from sitting flat or attaching neatly.
Before quoting: Send the complete outline, border choice, and mounting-panel size. Sew-on and iron-on backings do not have the same standard-shape requirement in our production process. However, sewing access and fabric compatibility still need checking, and iron-on application requires a heat-compatible garment.

Watch for: Dense stitches can close narrow gaps or obscure small characters. A large, heavily stitched patch can also resist bending around a sleeve or curved pouch.
Choose another type when: finer lettering matters more than raised stitch texture and the specification permits a change. Compare woven construction; never substitute a different process for a prescribed insignia without approval.

Woven custom military patches provide a flatter textile face for compact names, lettering, and detailed symbols. Include the border and the complete backing when checking whether the finished badge fits the available panel.
Watch for: Fine artwork still needs sufficient contrast and spacing at the specified size. A clear enlarged proof does not establish that small text will remain readable on the actual patch.
Choose another type when: the required finish is visibly embroidered or molded. Confirm the construction in the purchase specification instead of treating all textile patches as interchangeable.

PVC patches
PVC custom military patches suit designs with distinct molded shapes when that construction is permitted. Check relief, overall thickness, edge clearance, and backing fit on the actual equipment panel before approving the design.
Watch for: Raised details and a thick edge may catch adjacent straps or sit proud of the mounting area. A molded face does not establish the performance of the attachment or the equipment underneath.
Choose another type when: the specification calls for a textile insignia, very fine lettering, or a flatter profile. Do not assume PVC is an acceptable replacement for prescribed embroidered insignia.
