There is no fixed patch size for every hat. The outside dimensions include the full edge, not just the logo.
Rectangle
Horizontal wordmarks need room for the full outline and sewing path. Avoid a width that wraps too far around the crown.
Oval
Curved ends soften the outline, but shorten the space available for first and last letters. Keep those letters inside the usable face.
Circle
Useful for emblems. Check the total height above the brim or within the cuff, rather than judging only the diameter on screen.
Square
A compact block mark can work well, but four corners must sit against the panel without lifting. Review corner radius and thickness.
Custom Shape
Keep narrow projections strong enough for cutting and attachment. Simplify sharp tips and tight inward corners before committing to a silhouette.
Size check: measure clear panel width and height, mark seams and eyelets, and test a full-size outline on the hat in its wearing shape. Match leather thickness to crown curvature, then preserve clearance for the attachment path.

How Is the Leather Patch Attached?
Attachment determines both the visible edge and how the patch follows the finished crown.
Sewn Attachment
Stitching mechanically fixes the patch to the receiving fabric and creates a visible perimeter. Plan the stitch path outside essential artwork and leave enough material between the needle path and cut edge.
Heat-Applied Attachment
A compatible heat-activated backing can give an edge without visible attachment stitches. It requires an approved leather, backing and hat combination with supported contact across the whole patch.

Should I choose genuine leather or leatherette?
Choose genuine leather when natural texture and variation suit the brand. Compare leatherette when a more consistent surface is useful. Confirm the exact grade, thickness, finish and care compatibility; neither name alone establishes performance.
What hat styles work with leather patches?

What size should a leather patch be?

Can leather patches be custom shaped?

Should I use laser engraving or debossing?

How are leather patches attached to hats?
Sewing provides a fixed mechanical attachment with a visible stitch path. Heat application is considered only for compatible leather, backing and hat constructions with supported contact. The approved method must suit the finished cap or cuff.

Can you support repeat orders?
